Saturday Project

I'm proud to say that I am now a expert at changing out new light switches and outlets. :o) Whoop whoop!! Our apartment had the MOST ghetto light switches ever!! They were weird stubs for a switch, not the long ones we have now, and they, along with the outlets, were that lovely shade of old cream color.
haha So thankfully our landlord said if we bought the materials to replace them and do it ourselves he would reimburse us for the stuff. So we FINALLY got to it and they look SOO good!! I never thought I would be so excited about WHITE light switches and outlets. haha AND.........I only messed up on one light. haha And of course it was my very last one. I was so tired of changing them I just wanted it done and forgot which wire went where and just guessed......well now when the switch is down for off, it's actually on, and vise versa. lol I'll change it on Monday, I was so tired of them by the end that I didn't care anymore. :-p But yay for me and Jayson!! We busted those out and we're very happy with the results. I love home improvement projects.

Blessing Invite

I'm so weird but I just LOVE showing this invite off. It was so simple to do and it's just darling! My friend Heidi actually made it.....but I was there supervising. haha

First Two Months

Wow.....I really can't believe that it's already been two months since our little baby boy was born. I still remember every detail about the trip to the hospital, the delivery, and post-partum. These two months have gone by WAY too fast and it just makes every day so bittersweet.

1 week old

2 weeks old

3 weeks old

4 weeks old
6 weeks old

(haven't found a 5 weeks)

7 weeks old

2 months old!!

I wish that time wouldn't go by so quickly. I feel like I'm going to blink and he's going to be TWO! Ah!! These last two months have held so much joy for me and Jayson that I can't really put all of it into words, but I'll try. :o)

Things I love about Bentley:

1) I love how you're so giggly and smily in the morning. What a GREAT gift to wake up to every morning!!

2) I love how you LOVE to take showers!! You could stay in that shower all day if you had your way I'm sure

3) You're such a cuddle bug. You just love to be held and be walked around the apartment. (this is mostly Jayson's job as he sings Bentley songs)

4) I love how you like to held by OTHER people. haha I know it sounds awful but it is nice to be able to pass him off to other people who love him and he loves them back! (and gives me a break)
5) I love how when you nurse, you try to take FULL COMMAND of the situation!!

6) I love how you ALWAYS smile for your Grandparents. You bring so much love and joy into their lives by your precious smiles.

7) I love how you have your daddy's ears
8) I love how you always start crying/screaming when daddy calls and you make me look bad haha

9) I love your little fingernails that I have to cut almost EVERYDAY!!
10) I love your whining cries.....they are so unique and special to my heart
11) I love you my baby boy!!

Jayson has been the most caring and fun loving dad. He could just talk and talk and talk with Bentley for HOURS if he could. He tells him everything. He shows him outside the window. Show's Bentley his reflection in the mirror, and he ALWAYS tells Bentely how much he loves him. I am so blessed to not only have Jayson as a husband but a father to my child.

My adventures for the first two months have been pretty mellow (although I have had my share of meltdows) I find it so amusing how excited I get to learn something new about babies. I really enjoy reading books and on-line articles. My LIFESAVER the first 3 weeks was The Baby Whisperer Solves All Your Problems. Jayson's aunt had referred it to me and it was great.

Bentley was having trouble sleeping and I couldn't figure out why. It was taking FOREVER for him to succomb to sleep, and he only did because he became so exhausted. Being home from the hospital he would cry almost everytime I swaddled him, so I stopped. Well bad idea. haha At least for at night. I read the chapter on sleeping, she told me to swaddle him very tightly, I did, and TA-DA!!! he went right to sleep!! Yay!!

Diaper rash has also been a mystery to figure out. Funny how I spent money on different creams to use to treat it, and in the end the only thing that worked was vaseline....haha Awesome.

I have had the greatest times getting his pictures taken from my friend Heidi and seeing that handsome face come out on pictures. I still have plans for his nursery but right now I'm just enjoying the little time I have left at home before having to go back to work.

I really can't thank all my friends and family enough for all the patience and advice you've given me. I don't think I could be happier in my life right now. Bentley is such a blessing to me and Jayson and we have truly felt the Lord's love in our home since bring him home.

Labor & Delivery

So I wanted to post our little Labor and Delivery story with a few pictures. I'll be getting some better looking pictures to post later today but for now here ya go!!:-)

I worked all last week and felt pretty good the whole time. Bentley never really dropped so I really didn't think I was going to have him until THIS week. I got home Friday from work feeling tired and Jayson and I just hung out at home and took a nap. Later that night Jayson's little brother and sister wanted to go swimming. I haven't been swimming almost the whole time I was pregnant so I figured "What the heck" and went with them. Swimming is so crazy when you're 9 months pregnant because I was able to float on my back and it felt AMAZING!! haha I realy didn't feel anything change after swimming, I was just tired, so we went home. It was about 11:45 that night that I felt like I had some major cramps!! It was crazy and I later figured that I had just had my first contraction!! Well, I went to sleep and had maybe three more throughout the night, nothing bad. I finally woke Jayson up around 5:30 and told him I had been having contractions but they weren't too close together.

This is me Saturday morning. He had dropped just a little but I hadn't really noticed.

We spent the morning in bed timing contractions but they never got stronger so we just went about our morning.

This is my "having a contraction picture" haha

We did laundry and cleaned up a litte. Jayson was really impatient and just really wanted to leave for the hospital. I knew I wasn't ready to go yet so I pretty much delayed us as long as possible. haha Everyone had told me to eat before checking into the hospital; so we stopped by Arby's (my biggest pregnancy craving) took the food up to my in-laws and hung out with them for a little while. Finally I knew it was time, so we told the family we were headed for the hospital and to "hopefully" expect a baby later that day. We checked into the hostital around noon.

This is us FINALLY leaving the apartment!

I had been at a three for the past two weeks so when they checked me I was at a 4 and 90%. I tested positive for this strep swab bacteria test that they take so I ended up getting checked in because I needed to start antibiotics.

This is me all checked in and before the epidural...
By around 4ish they started patosin on me and an hour later I wasn't able to breathe through the contractions anymore and asked for the epidural. :-) I recieved it and immediately got really loopy. And this is me AFTER the epidrual....haha

I couldn't stop laughing and I even started snorting while laughing. It was bad....lol They nurse came in to check on my because on the monitor she said that laughing and throwing up looks the same and she wanted to make sure what I was doing. haha Well, I was progressing along very quickly and by 6:30 our mom's and dad's and my sister came to visit. It was a party. In about 2 hours and half hours I went from a 6 to a 9 and they were going to start prepping me for delivery!!! Ah!!! Well, starting at around 7:30 they started having me push and after about 10-15 minutes of pushing I gave birth!!! Da da da dum!!!
Bentley Jay Alexander was born at 7:53 p.m.
He wighed 6 lbs 12 oz and he was 20 1/2" long.

He ended up swallowing some fluid when he was coming down so after they took him from me and cleaned him up he needed to be in the nursery for a little bit. They had to get his airway cleared and finally they brought him to me!! Yay!! He was born with so much hair and he was SO quiet!! He has the most amazing eyes and the cutest mouth and personality!! The hospital stay was great and he's doing fabulous!! He took to nursing pretty well and we're just taking it one day at a time now. Thanks to everyone for your well wishes and thoughts. We'll keep updates on our new lives as a family!!

Baby Nursery

So for those of you who don't know the story or who forgot, I'm going to quickly recap how we were able to win this cute nursery furniture set. A radio station here does a contest called "Baby Bump Watch" where they have pregnant women send in pictures of themselves pregnant. Then after they're all posted listeners go on-line and vote for their favorite picture. Then the first place girl with the most votes got to win a Crib, Dresser and rocking chair with ottomon. Well, I entered in and actually won first place!! It was so amazing I couldn't believe it!!! So they had the top three contestants all go to a live radio broadcast where they told us on-air who won. It was so cool. The contest was also given by Babinski's Baby which is a way nice and expensive baby boutique. So the other two contestants got a $200 gift certificate for the store. Anyhoo, we got that furniture and put it together and it's so cute!! What a blessing it was for our little family to win that furniture. I'll admit I was a little worried about having to buy baby furniture but the Lord provided a way for us. Anyways, here are the pictures of the furniture and what I've been able to do so far in the nursery. We're in an apartment so we're not able to paint the walls but I've had some amazing friends give some great ideas for the walls that I'm going to work on when I have time!! ha!!

First Time!!

Alright,
So I'm seeing how this all works. haha I'm finally taking the time to learn. Anyhoo, I figure since the baby is due soon that this would be a fun and easy way for our family to keep updated with us. Jayson is very excited for the baby of course and he just can't wait. I on the other hand....am also very excited but really nervous. I don't feel like "mommy material" and it's sometimes just weird thinking about being a mom. I feel like I can't even keep our apartment organized and clean so how will I be able to do that with a baby???? *sigh* Oh well, enough complaining. I am very excited for out little guy to get here and also to be able to sleep on my back again!! haha Sweet :o)
